Choosing, Cleansing and Programming Crystals
May 2015

Choosing
The crystals you are attracted to may reflect qualities and values you want to bring into your life. You may choose some crystals because of their healing properties, or just the fact that you like them. If a crystal is meant for you, it will find you.
When choosing a crystal for someone else, think about that person or the crystal's purpose, and try to tune in. It's better to choose a crystal in person... hold it, feel it, sense its texture, coldness, vibration. If it feels good, buy it.
If you have an aversion to a crystal, it usually means that you need it. If you work with it, it may help buried issues surface. Pass on a crystal to someone else when you’re done with it.

Cleansing
Crystals absorb energy and vibration from their surroundings. When you get a new crystal, always cleanse it. Also cleanse after wearing, or healing.
You may use salt water or running water to cleanse crystals except for those stones that are soft or dissolve (Selenite, Celestite, Angelite, Malachite).
You may cleanse crystals by smudging with smoke from sage, cedar, or sweetgrass.
Cleanse crystals by laying them on a Quartz cluster or large Carnelian for 12 hours.
Place in moonlight and/or sunlight (amethyst, citrine, and rose quartz fade in direct sunlight. Clear quartz magnifies the sun's rays, so avoid putting it in direct sunlight or it may cause a fire.)

Visualization golden or white light around the crystal.
Bury the crystal in salt or dirt.
Use Reiki to cleanse.
Kyanite, Azeztulite, and Citrine never need cleansing.

Dedicating and Programming
Crystals need to be dedicated and programmed to start working…it focuses energy
Dedicate your crystals to the highest good…picture light around it.
Program crystals by holding them and stating their purpose. If you want the crystal to attract love, be specific as to the type of love. Attune to the vibration.
Wear the crystal or keep it with you. Nobody should touch it. Hold it every once in a while.
